Day Eight

10 Apr

Pick an awareness / organization / charity that you think people should pay more attention to. And why?

I think people should pay attention to a lot more causes, but i’m going to go with autism awareness. My best friend Sara has a little brother who is severely autistic, so that cause sticks out a little more to me than the other ones.

Day Seven

10 Apr

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? What about now?

As a kid, I loved the planetarium. It was my favorite field trip, and my favorite place to be in general. I wanted to have a job that let me look at the stars as much as possible, whether that be an astronomer, or a full blown astronaut.

Now, I just want to do something that I enjoy. I have my AA degree in graphic design, but I don’t have the passion for it that I used to have. Ideally, i’d like to go back to school for photography.

Day Six

10 Apr

If you have to write a letter to someone that you have not speak to for a very long time, who would it be and what would you say in that letter?

This is a tough one for me. I don’t have anyone that I really need to say anything to that I haven’t talked to in a while. If I haven’t talked to someone in a while, there is a reason for it. I do have friendships that have come and gone, and some that didn’t end on the best of terms, but I don’t have anything else to say to those people that I haven’t already said.

Day Five

7 Apr

When someone asks for your opinion, are you always honest? Or to do hold back and think before speaking your mind? Why?

I try to be honest with people as much as possible. I’m not honest to the point where it will hurt someones feelings but i’m very tell it like it is. I guess, i’d have to say though that it depends on who the person is. Some people I know can’t handle brutal honesty, so there are a couple friends where i’ll stretch the truth.

Book Review: Club Dead

6 Apr

Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3)Club Dead by Charlaine Harris

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd installment in the southern vampire series, and this is the book that really “officially” got me hooked on the series.

I personally don’t find Bill to be the most interesting character, so his absence in the book was fine by me. I love that it gave Sookie time to get to know Eric, and Alcide because I find both of those characters much more interesting.

I also LOVE Bubba. He’s not a pertinent character to the story, but I thought including him in the book was cute. (Maybe it’s because I grew up right next to Memphis, who knows.)

I found the ending to be bittersweet. Poor Sookie, finding her boyfriend cheating on her, and then he tries to kill her AND rape her? Definitely not a good day for Sookie, but it leaves their relationship TBD which will leave more room for plot development with Eric and/or Alcide.

Day Four

6 Apr

What is your current interest? And why?

Well, that changes a lot for me. Currently i’m on a reading kick. I tend to go through “media phases.” I’ll be really into reading for a month or two, and then i’ll be really into a TV show, and after that i’ll be on a big music kick and so on. I’ve just finished reading the Mortal Instruments Books 1-3, which is convenient since Book 4 was just released yesterday!

I’m also very interested in photography, although I don’t get to do it as much as I would like. I’ve done some engagement photos, even a wedding but I think I prefer nature shoots more than people.

Book Review: Living Dead in Dallas

5 Apr

Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2)Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great sequel to the first Southern Vampire book! I was shocked when the book began with finding Lafayette dead, I didn’t see that coming.

I love the introduction of Eric into this book, he’s definitely a fascinating character, and one of my favorites in the series. I found the Fellowship of the Sun to be a little overdramatic, but the politics of the situation were well conveyed, even if the events were a melodramatic.

I like that Sookie having to suck the bullet out of Eric, and inadvertently ingesting his blood is made to be an apparent allusion of things to come in this series.

Day Three

5 Apr

Who has changed your life the most? And why? Post a picture of you and the person or just the person!

It’s hard to pick one person who has changed my life the most, however i’m going to choose my best friend Sara. She’s been my best friend since the 7th grade, even after I embarrassed her by telling her crush that she liked him! We’ve been through thick and thin together, and even through times when we weren’t as close we still managed to be there for each other.

Sara has a rough family situation, and my family kind of took her in. She knows that no matter what she needs, I will always be there for her and vice versa. Even after graduating high school, we’ve managed to stay best friends which as most people know doesn’t happen very frequently. We’re as crazy as ever, getting into all sorts of shenanigans and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Day Two

4 Apr

When you want an alone time, where is your favourite place? Why? What stuff do you like to do when you have your alone time? Post a picture of your favourite place, if you have it?

I LOVE living alone, so my apartment is where I go for my alone time. I love to read, so i’ve been spending a lot of time reading lately just relaxing on the couch.

Having lived with roommates for 2 years in college, it’s wonderful having my own place, and no one around. I thought at first that I would be lonely, but that isn’t the case at all. I go out a lot on the weekends, and I work full time, so when I am home it’s just time I spend relaxing.

Book Review: Dead Until Dark

4 Apr

Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1)Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I actually started this series when I was younger, about 13, and I didn’t really get into it at the time. (For obvious reasons, I think since it is not exactly a book for a 13 year old.) I picked it back up off my shelf when I was about 18 and saw the book in a different light, and loved it.

Sookie is a great main character, and is always fascinating to read about. Having read a plethora of different vampire books, I have to say this one sticks out since it doesn’t JUST focus on vampires although they are important to the plot. I think Charlaine Harris manages to mix different supernatural phenomena into one book with skill, and still keeps the plot interesting at the same time. I can say without a doubt, this is one of my favorite book series.
